We’ve had a good crop of pumpkins: they’ve grown out of the vegetable patch and hang like bright lanterns in the hedge.
After a gusty few days, chestnuts have begun falling from the trees and are lying around in the grounds, waiting to be collected……
Yesterday I invented a delicious, easy dessert with chestnuts. After boiling them and removing the two skins, many of them were crumbly so I just add a grated apple and bingo! The moisture of the apple complimented the texture of the chestnuts.
It was a delicious, seasonal way to end the meal 🙂
Unfortunately, due to the coronavirus restrictions, the 2020 editions of the annual Chestnut Fairs in La Garde Freinet and Collibrières have been cancelled.
